Agreed. Private corporations buy this data and use it to target sales and ads.

Government tracking can be used for far more nefarious purposes.

I know what you saying.. but I don't have fb etc on my phone. I just don't like it that your banking app is tracking.. they should be doing banking, not tracking.

It's also used to influence elections, people stance on critical topics,... Private companies are far from innocent in comparison to governments and will sell to the highest bidder including governments, politicians,...

Either way if you really concerned about what government knows about you then you should be seriously concerned about SARS, FIC, Banks... Best to get paid and pay in cash

The FNB app has a LOT of staff functionality on it that you never see. Approval workflows, payslips, leave management... Even the smart app approvals are used for 2FA for access to some systems.
