Focus ST vs 135i

I'm funny in that way but I always hated it whenever another ST driver would flash me or wave at me. To me it was like we were supposed to be this brotherhood or clan just because we drive the same car. I never waved back at them because I wanted no part of their little "club". To me a car is just a piece of metal (granted, a very nice one in the case of the ST) and I never form any sort of emotional attachment to my cars.

LOL you're going to cringe so prepare....ready?.....

In Alfa terms we actually call it an ALFA WAVE!!!:D And I do it to ALL Alfa drivers...to my surprise they actually wave back...oh, did I mention I have my own Alfa club and me is ze chairman? We 23 members strong now!

On this subject, I find it irrational to be brand loyal. To me a good car is a good car, irrespective of who made it. There are BMWs, Mercs, Fords, VWs and yes, even Alfas, that I really like. To me, brand loyalty clouds one's judgement. If the motor companies want loyalty they should get a dog. They feel a f*** for me and the feeling is reciprocal from my side.

I so argee with you. Last year I was mentored into the Alfa leadership (I know it sounds ****ING ****) but this old guy who loved Alfa's would dog every other car...I did not like this as I too like Honda's type R...Pokemons, GTI6, Audi S3, S2000 and tons of other cars...

But I'd say I'm brand loyal for tons of reasons, but would one day want to drive other cars like an E46 M3 or an S2000 or an RX7 etc...

You are so right, we were pissed when Alfa decided NOT to make the MiTo GTA irrespective of WORLD WIDE outcry...My wife knows my next car will most probably be nothing closely resembling an Alfa...I have my guilietta which I plan on swoping a 3.2 GTA motor in so that should satisfy my Alfablood...anyway, you are CORRECT and I'm sure the VW fanboys will agree:eek:

I actually bought the car with 40,000km on the clock - so the previous owner has already taken the initial knock and I'm not too concerned with it dropping further.

As standard, I think the Volvo offers alot more than BMW or Audi.

Holy smokes you found an R-design and preowned?, you lucky mother trucker!
I don't know much about whats the best brand, but I suppose I'd want to pick one that will allow me to sell the car without taking a huge knock.

Agreed, a lot more in most departments...but even better its RARE! Whereas a R350 000 BMW will pull up to 5 other R350 000 BMW owners and not even greet each other or give a nod of approval

I totally agree though, BMW is as common as dirt and I'm sick of the site of 320i and d.
But I thought people were buying them because they are good? true or false?

Yes I was at one stage brand loyal to Citroen, but I'd be an idiot to buy one of those again, too many break downs.

Hahaha Ford drivers... I see Scoobies also do that, but I understand their "brotherhood"
ST drivers on the whole are....... err ya.

well thing is dolby :) about the RSi

you should be thrashing a 110kw Fiesta ST ! thing that bugs me the most, 141Kw 1.8 (only company to get this much out of such a small engine) has to be either at the flywheel or BS.. you should be running a car length behing a Golf V GTi

but i do agree no 1.6i citi will take an RSi to 100 :)

I must be smoking some gewd ****, coz I beat a RSi, RXi and Runx Rsi...
But thats 2007, lets move on.

Yea ... please share!

Do you mind telling us what you stick with, so we can get an idea? I think every car nut on here has mentioned a car that beat them ... barring you.

You've taken everything ... 1.3 litre to 5.0 litre ... 4 cylinder to 12 cylinder ... turbo or NA ... 60KW to 350KW.

Is there anything that can beat JK8? :/

Nah, no use commenting on cars that beat me... especially if they non VAG.

Audi a diff Co. you've got 2 be kiddn me thats like saying toyota and lexus come from different planets:cool:

I could say the same thing about Ford and Volvo....when they first made the ST Ford owned Volvo.....dunno if its changed now though

I think the ST "brotherhood" kinda started because initially they were verrry uncommon so when you saw one you waved etc. They're still rare compared to a golf GTI that every third person who isn't driving a 320 in jhb is driving but are fairly common now. Seat leon cupra on the other hand, that should stay rather rare...

can you imagine a 320I club!!! :D:D

because it's different

I drive a Scoobie and yes, I do get the appreciative nod from other Scoobies. I don't think it's lame, it's different and I like driving it because it's NOT a ford or bwm etc. Anyone can quote figures and stats and argue about 1 second here or there, but it should be an emotional feeling when you drive your car. They used to say don't talk about politics or religion in a group, but I think you can add "cars" to that list. It always gets out of hand.

On a personal side note, scooby drivers are peaceful drivers.. ;)

People don't have manners anymore, no matter where in the world they are :

I've got my own experience - but 125i Coupe vs Volvo C30 T5?

The T5 will win. More power (and more torque) I bet my T5 on it.

hehe ... yea you're right ;) Wanted to see if others would come and maybe dispute.

The 125i is actually pretty decent though (3.0 engine , 160KW/270nm). This particular one had an exhaust (not sure what else).

Towards end of 2nd, he was 2 car lengths back - with 2 in my car.

2 car lengths back at end of 2cnd...joh! But you have to admit though...the 125/135i's sound FLIPPEN good when the boost kicks in...jeeeeewhizzzz
