once long pig or soylent green gains traction on restaurant menus this problem sorts itself out pretty fast ...

8 long pig = 1 cow.
Yep, it'll sort out world hunger and over population chop chop.

Although, couldn't say I would partake, grasshopper and worms for me then.

In all honesty we should all just consume less, of everything.

Fast fashion
Fast food
Single use plastic
Paper
Food we buy and not eat and throw away.

I won't mind seeing the back of current industrialised livestock farming but I will still be eating meat in 2050. I am still fascinated that the discussion is not how to curb the ever expanding human population on earth but how to somehow support it. We truly are parasites...
Ironic that those who suggest it doesn't want to go first.

LIVE IN A POD
EAT BUGS
DISAVOW PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
CONSUME
I actually find the Bugs angle really interesting. And if not to feed us it has useful application as protein in animal feeds.

In the meantime Apple has a terrible product life cyle for own profit. They may recycle, sure, but that takes energy. But they'd rather resell you a new item than simply replacing a small discrete component in a repair process. Of course this is wrapped up in a BS quality marketing message. $$Profit!!

Not just smart phones, any other technology. Laptops (albeit they have a longer life cycle), monitors and TVs, smart watches (I replace mine every two years), and all other home appliances tend to land up in the trash pile if they don't have any resell value. The impact these products have on the environment must be massive. Heck, I bought myself a little Nespresso machine, and later realized to my horror that those stupid pods don't biodegrade.

It's all very hypocritical tbh. I will not stop eating meat, but I will be behind paying more for modular products that can be upgraded incrementally and that have more potential to be recycled.

Tbh, I've always had a certain connotation attached to the word consumer. Like locusts ... ;)

I’m sure a world war will be arranged to ensure the population is culled down to levels where we can enjoy a good steak. If there is one thing humanity is consistently good at, its war.
