Have been saying this all along....

The items mentioned in this article does not fall under the basket government uses to measure 'inflation'. So, any increases in these items does not affect the official inflation number. It does, however, affect our pockets and income, which already made South Africa the most expensive country in the world in terms of living costs. If these items were measured, our true inflation rate would be around 40-60%

Even with the big inflation in the US, a Sergeant in the police there (Who earns $80k a year) can still buy a 4l milk for under $2, or finance a Hyundai Tucson 2l at a monthly premium of less than $350. A Seargent in SA (Who earns R120k a year) will be lucky if he pays R60 for for 4l milk, even more so with a premium of less than R5,000 for the same vehicle.

This is why South African stats are not correct. If you want to live comfortably, just stick to what is in the basket, the rest just keeps skyrocketing.
