Their business model is about selling ready to eat meals to the public.

Lots of behind the scenes preparation of food goes on there. They must constantly check if food is fit for consumption, or do they?

With all the superstition that leads to the killing of owls and cats, why are people disgusted by the booming rodent problem?

Yep, also snakes. Not good for business, they tend to clear out the supermarket ...

Actually saw it years back at a SPAR. A mfezi found his way in, the patrons their way out post haste :ROFL:

In the type of work I do I’ll say majority.

I work with this daily, if the superstition can stop there might be less cruelty as well.
Look at what happened in Alex with the owls.
Where are the cats?
Killed inhumanely.
Where are the owls?
Killed.

There are people starting to see the value of cats and not see them as some sort of evil , but its an uphill battle.

I have been to the shoprite stores in Centurion to pick up new born kittens the mom was killed and the staff was busy killing kittens, by throwing rocks at them.
I picked up the two survivors Ans as I walked with them the whole store of people scattered away from me in fear. The security refused to come close so that I could be let out.

Stop crying about rats. There is a perfect workable solution.

That's ****ed up. :/

Not just an African problem, though. There are a few charities here in England, but they're specifically for black cats, as they're usually dumped the most/first, because they still carry the stigma of having apparently been witches' familiars hundreds of years ago.

Recently though, they've reported that there's been an increase in the number of black cats being dumped because, wait for it, they don't show up properly in selfies...

I fully agree. Please just note we do not have it just with black cats.

There is several schools were we have to pick up dead kittens often the kids just kick them to death.
IT's kids 6 -9 doing this.
A big ginger cat was dead by the time I arrived the last time.

The teachers gave up. I tried to help. They rescue the ones they can get to before they are killed.

No matter how many times the SPCA has been there to try and educate them we just get the call.
Please come only one survived.

A distress call the community burnt the last kittens when the mamelodi strikes were on. Mom got away. Please the riots are on again and she will not survive this time. They believe that its an evil omen and if they burn them some thing good is going to happen ( was the riot about the wall)
how many does this happen to? The isolated cases where people actually try and help the rest go unreported.

And yes black cats are often the most abused but these are kittens and cats of all colors.

IF you guys knew the amount of cruelty out there you would not be surprised why we have so many serial killer rapists and horrible things happen to humans.

It is fair to say that a nation can be judged by the way it treats its animals.
We are a sick nation.
A disgustingly sick one.

The point is the biggest stumble block for TNR ( Trap Neuter Return) operations are usually the excuse that the staff is scared of the animals. The second one is that people just do not care.
Its an uphill battle and the rats are king at this point.



OF topic:


Cats are hung in Midstream estate.
Cats are skinned and strung up in Slverton
Tied up in bags and thrown in dustbins
Tied up and thrown into water

Biggest issue with all animals is that the vast majority of people do not sterilize their pets.
Those who 'care" do not sterilize and those who don't are cruel in their treatment of animals.

There is a very small portion of people actually doing something actively to stop both ends of this spectrum

The black plague, essentially hopped into food Lover's for a quick bite.

Believe it or not rats, yes even cute ones are likely terrible for your health.

Time to 451 that shop.

Had a couple instances finding the meat I've bought from them is rancid. Won't go near them for meat now. They are the only place where I can find the danish feta though so I often find myself in there for that.

Yeah, got food poisoning from some prawns I bought there a couple of years back. Haven't been back since (or had prawns again for that matter).

Look at the video. The its a common tabby. Much like the African wild cat.

Like all of these superstitions somewhere someone ripped the dam out from under the duck and now we sit with people that are scared of cats because my granny said they were evil.

Including domesticated "fancy" rats? They clean themselves as often as cats. Feral rats/cats/dogs can all carry disease. It's more a product of their environment than being inherently dirty. Have 10 rats and haven't keeled over yet.

Black Plague wasn't spread by rats because they were dirty.
