Food shortages expected in South Africa after looting in KZN and Gauteng

A lot of things are going to go south in the coming months after all this.

Hence the panic buying. The local Pick n Pay was the fullest I have ever seen it. Never seen a line outside it like that before.

Can concur. Our Shoprite is jam packed. Shelves are emptying and no deliviries imcoming. Queues outside are very long. Our local Engen has no 95 octane left, no deliviries either.

This is in Vereeniging.

Government should act real fast to get food to stores. Somehow. The violence that will ensue when no food is available will be 1000 times worse than what we have experienced the past week.

Great, now I have to deal with panic buying idiots for the next few days.

It will be good for business. No reasons to complain. Problem is, our local Spar notified clients that they will have stock, hopefully till the end of the week and will then close down until they get deliveries again in Gauteng. So, panic buying now may not be a bad idea. Not sure for how long we will be affected by shortages. Natal already no longer have access to things like bread, milk and some areas meat.

The food shortage is already here in KZN. If you aren't lucky enough to have a stocked fridge or gave the luxury to wait in crazy long lines, you are screwed.
