Saudi is not Qatar. They have a long football history. This is all part mbs's plan to diversify.

Also it's hilarious to see the same pundits who were praising the Roman Chelsea takeover, the Abu Dhabi city take over, the PIF Newcastle takeover and wanting a middle eastern takeover Man Utd now crying cause the money is going outside the EPL.

It's not fun when you aren't the biggest shark anymore.

I see average attendnace is around 9000 per match if they can bump that up to 20 000 it might start to gain traction. Just think its almost impossible to compete with Europe but in 10 years things might change I guess.

What money is going outside the EPL?

EPL is TV money - Al Saud ain't getting a slice of that. They're pumping their own (govt) money into it - money that wouldn't be going anywhere else.

I don't watch football for the players - who wants to watch Al Itifaq play against Al WhoGivesAFaq even if it's CR7 v Benzema.

The reason why La Liga became irrelevant today was making it a about the players, specifically Ronaldo and Messi.

The league literally needs Mbappe to be relevant again. (Doesn't mean people will actually watch it though)

EPL players signing for Saudi clubs. Quite a few EPL pundits threw their toys about it. The same pundits say nothing about the EPL clubs bought by the same type of owners.

EPL isn't just TV money. Man city and NUFC have massive sponsor deals from Abu Dhabi and Saudi companies. Anyone who doesn't have blinkers on know those deals are brokered by governments and the values are highly suspicious.

Most of us here don't follow players we follow a specific club but there other fans who are player followers. See Messi's impact on Miami's social media followers for reference.

Ummmm, you're preaching to the choir here.

The rot started with Abrahamovichs' dirty oil money, was compounded by Abu Dhabi's state oil money and capped by Saudi state oil money.

The current employment of 'has beens' and 'close to has beens' is another arrow in the sportswashing quiver.

PSG have accepted Al-Hilal’s bid of £259mil for Mbappe. He’ll be on something like £600mil a year.

This is beyond a pisstake now if it goes through.

He already has multigenerational wealth, one would expect him to refuse the transfer to finally play in a top tier league and the pursuit of Champions League Glory but you never know.

Apparently it’s only a 1-year deal so he could leave for free the year after, rich af, playing in the CL for Arsenal. *cough*
