Football Banter Thread (2nd Half)

there's about 8 - 10 matches in the club world cup I'd be curious to watch, being generous 10/48 is still 12% short for an ANC pass mark.
The Saudis have thrown a crap load of money into this. Bit puzzling they couldn't convince the mercenary Ronaldo to play in it.

There's a non-zero chance he'd get arrested and charged with sexual assault.

I've been having insomnia the last few nights, so I watched the first match, seems the MLS is a very similar standard to the PSL. Messi's team should've lost by at least 2 goals if the Egyptian team put their chances away.

This is a tournament for the football scouts, couch football scouts and football hipsters.

For those who may or may not be aware, Sundowns beat their K-League opponent Ulsan 1 - 0 (but really honestly it should have been 2 - 0 but we were robbed by VAR). So now they top their group ahead of BVB Dortmund and the like AWEH

Next opponent is BVB Dortmund, let's see how that goes

It's looking like CAF is the third tier confederation in the tournament, we could see an influx of African players to the MLS and Asia as a direct result of this tournament.

Good exposure for South African football. Sundowns is the best team in our league by far so they should have a good chance to finish in the top 2. Next game against Dortmund will be huge opportunity to measure ourself against a European club. It might make scouts recruit more local players to Europe.

Not sure how the Americans are making money. Stadiums look empty. Attendance was 3,412 for the Sundowns game

Yeah but some of the games are weekdays at like 12pm, unless its massive team I expect stadiums to be empty. Like the new format but think you need the 20 biggest clubs then you add the champions from other leagues to make it a legit World Cup.

Jeez, Manchester City just caught a red card while playing against a Moroccan side! Lewis decided to but some studs against a player's face post-tackle... They'll still win handily though

Crowds showed their support for Manchester City in Philly though!

Even with Trent Madrid is still shyte, cant even beat a Saudi team.......
though Sauds paying money for Real to throw it isn't impossible

PSG lose to Corinthians Botafogo

European teams are finding it difficult to play South American teams, seems like a clash of styles.

Botafogo.

Surprising result. I suppose it's PSG fatigue and apathy after a long season while the South American's are still mid-season & the $120 million means more to Botafogo.
