Football Banter Thread (2nd Half)

Sundowns been the better side vs Dortmund. Too bad for that horror mistake from Williams

I have got to say that Sundowns did mighty well to end that game at 4 - 3 considering it was 4 - 1 at one stage. They were the winners of the second half!

The guys at DAZN are certainly enjoying watching Mamelodi Sundowns

James has one of the best football analysis channels on YouTube... Pretty big deal for DAZN to pick a YouTuber to host, but he deserves it.

I like Julien's takes as well.

I must admit, I thoughly enjoyed that game as well! I felt like Sundowns just gave it their all no matter what. Yes they made mistakes, but they almost made up for it! They took Dortmund by surprise a number of times. That epic kick from the keeper Williams nearly resulted in a goal at the other end, it would have been the most amazing assist ever! And that first goal was so suprising I nearly jumped out of my chair!

Honestly if they learn from their mistakes they could well make the knock-outs. They kept that goal difference under control. They just need some luck against Fluminense

Are Inter just done with football or something?
Struggling mentally after what happened in the cl final.
Team hasn't been in great physical shape either all season.
Add a new manager in the mix and was always going to be a very difficult CWC for us.

Big task in the offseason to reset.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is like a someone made a custom tournament in the latest FIFA game, set it to the weirdest host country he could think of, and played each game with his mates each taking control as their favourite team from whatever league 🤣

This tournament makes sense really despite the highfalutin turned up noses of Europe and their supporters. The clubs from small nations never have an opportunity to play competitive football against the big leaguers. Sure there's the Saudis involvement which leaves a sour taste and the corrupt fifa but its good for the teams

There have been some really excellent games among all this, like Real Madrid going one man down early on yesterday and then still coming back to win 4 - 1. I loved that.

It was a classic Bafana Bafana performance by the keeper

It’s like the UEFA Nations League: completely pointless and just another money grab.

If they weren't playing nation league games they would be playing international friendlies in those windows. The friendlies were even more pointless.

Sundowns keeper is absolutely shyte
Not as shyte as Marcelo Allende the Chilean playing for Sundowns. He is tiny and was just awful in that game. He doesn't have the physical size to even attempt to compete with European players.

The vibe of the tournament games is similar to preseason tour games but with actually stakes to the games. UEFA Nations League is essentially just world cup qualifying without the stakes of risking not qualifying for the world cup.

Camden Schaper, a 13-year-old footballer from South Africa
🇿🇦
, is set to become the most expensive player ever at his age.

Chelsea are leading the race to sign him from Blackburn Rovers for a record R16.9 million (£700,000), beating several top English clubs.

Born in Benoni east of Joburg, Schaper moved to England in 2023.

Watch a 0-0 draw to see Sundowns eliminated.

No African, US, Asian, Middle Eastern or Australasian team reach the last 16.
Only South American and European teams make it to the last 16.

This proves the Club world Cup concept is a flop.
