Saw an interesting point raised by Roy Keane after England's win: what exactly is the point of teams like San Marino playing against teams like England? Insert any minnow's name if you like. They have no chance of ever getting a win (San Marino have like a zero win record or something) and these matches don't even add to their development because of the embarrassment after such a spanking. They have no realistic chance of EVER qualifying. It's actually hugely unfair on them even having them in the qualifiers at all.

The games aren't even entertaining - for home fans, for away fans or even for neutrals. Harry Kane scored four? So what? It was against literally the lowest ranked team in the world. Even the Andorra game was pointless.

More games, more adverts aired, more money ...

If they cared about the quality of football, 100% agreed.

They should do what AFC/CAF does and introduce qualifying rounds. Make the weakest nations pre-qualify against one another before a final round of qualifying groups. I'm sure San Marino would find a 1-2 aggregate loss against Gibraltar far more enjoyable - and they may even have a workable game plan for such opposition - than being twatted for cricket scores.

Trivia: San Marino have won a single competitive game in their entire history, beating Lichtenstein 1-0 in 2004.

I reckon the likes of New Zealand, the US, Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica would veto this unless guaranteed that they carry over the WC slots previously allotted to their respective confederations.
I think the US and Mexico would support such a merger, a combined 8 spots using the WC format and they'll fancy their chances against the midtier South America teams.

There's potentially huge money to be made from MLS and Mexican teams vs the giant teams from Brazil and Argentina in a champions league type tournament.

But you are right About the smaller nations

Alright alright al'riiiiiiiiiiiight

I mean, it's Arsenal v Liverpool. Liverpool are obvious favourites and will probably win this comfortably without any injuries.

Unconfirmed. No official statement from club or manager. There's still some hope the board retains him for at least the remainder of that new contract term.
We're all praying for Ole. It's unacceptable how other teams have behaved towards him, being all greedy. Secure the 3 points and chill. Man City understood this. Liverpool and Watford behaviour was despicable. They are putting a good man out of work

Actually feel sorry for the guy. He looked visibly traumatised after yesterday's game. Out of mercy, I'm relieved to see he's finally being let go.

Good luck to the new manager. Still don't believe the recent form was all on Ole.

Anyways..... YNWA....
I still can't believe United stuck with one of the worst managers in the EPL for 3 years.

But I do feel for him, he was almost on tears during the interview

Yeah, well, beginning of the year, every one, was giving odd on Arteta, being the first manager to get the sack. Half the clubs in th EPL almost have new managers and Arteta, is still beating those odds.
