How does Lewandowski not win a Ballon d'Or?

Best explanation I've seen: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soc...t-lewandowski-snub/1bqiba9scxbzt1np4tgonesm7e

In short - it's got the best footballer overall and not the top scorer, you also need to be a legend (who doesn't know Messi?) and more than just the tip of a spear (Lewandowski).

Anyway, the GOAT got it based on GOATNESS and probably therefore will win it again in 2022 and 2023.

So kind of a PR award now that we have a "best striker" award. It's like winning a lifetime achievement award every year.

That article calls in to question why a player's career is relevant in determining who is the best in a given calendar year.

We are awarding the best footballer in 2021, not a GOAT. And Lewandowski's 2021 has been incredible from an individual perspective.

Well I agree. They should just call the Ballon d'Or what it is.

Who gave football to the French anyway? Why are they handing out the awards?

The Ballon d'Or was created by a French publication and it just became a respected award. The award even predated FIFA's world player of the year award.

Much like boxing has the The Ring magazine's boxing title; a long-standing and highly respected publication and authority on the sport that recognises the best boxers.

Now that I know I can ignore this farce from now on

Gabriel fought off thugs armed with a baseball bat trying to steal his Mercedes. Our boys are just built different.

"One of the attackers, Abderaham Muse, then lunged at the Brazilian with the bat, but Gabriel struck him in the face and wrestled with him, grabbing his hat, until the robber wriggled free and ran off."

DNA on the hat linked him to other crimes and he's been nicked and given 5 years. Turns out he supports Sp*rs. Best comment I've seen so far: he should stay behind bars until Sp*rs win the league.

On a side note. When is Xhaka back. We all really miss him
