Well, I warned you before about jinxing your team, iirc, and then Covid lockdown happened :)
And now they're having protests in the UK against police brutality in the US. It's 2020 man. You can't take chances in 2020 with your team's luck.

I’ve watched that guy gallop into the traffic light around 20 times already... I think of it like a striker having an empty goal and hitting the crossbar.

Not a guy.
It was a female police officer.
And she suffered a collapsed lung, broken collarbone and shattered ribs.
Why would you watch that at least 20 times?
Does it give you a nice warm, fuzzy feeling inside?
Does it make you laugh?

Show some damn respect!

Is peppa doing a survey or something? So many questions.

Man, if he wasn't so nosey I'd explain why I've had a problem with mounted police marshalling crowds since 1989 but it's just nag, nag, nag.

Why do you have a problem with this? What alternative would you prefer?

Well...

Hillsborough

Channeling folk in to die.

But in 2020...

I'd prefer mounted police not agressivley advance into protestors.
I'd prefer if protesters weren't kettled... It panics the protesters and the animals.
I'd prefer if mounted police didn't gallop their animals in or near crowds.
I'd prefer if mounted police were aware of road signs and such when they're on public roads.
I'd prefer if folk in Bristol had listened to the voices of those offended by 'ol Ed and had put him in a museum.
I'd prefer if 'ol Ed never had a statue in the first place
and I'd prefer 'ol Ed never sold humans to start with.

First I've seen the mounted police being blamed for this. And your photos just show them sitting by, not forcing them into anything.

IMO, all the police were to blame... Especially after they opened gate C and started marshalling the crowd from the turnstiles to that exit gate.

Before that, the mounted police could have used their horses like stationary barriers to break up the crowd at the turnstiles. They didn't.

I don't think they're good crowd control. I just don't.

EDIT: The point of mounted police is intimidation. Even if everything's peaceful, that element is still there.

I think there has been a lot of blame laid at the door of the police. I can't disagree.

However, the mounted police would only have done that if ordered to do so. Which they were not. Otherwise they would have been the reckless force you so want them to be.

And yes, I agree they are supposed to be big and intimidating. Which makes them good crowd control. So we disagree here.

Mounted police aren't an issue. See them often when big games are on. I feel a lot safer knowing they're around if any firms start kicking off. I guess it's an alternative to the American solution, namely automatic weapons.

Worst part about mounted police? Having to look out for big, steaming piles of horse **** on the road while walking to the stadium.

That's fair and this thread is *for* folk who disagree... I mean, c'mon, you're United and I'm Liverpool, right?

Of course; and agreed. That was a horrendous day - no matter what fan you are of what club. But it's not something to debate here hey.

Better than puddles of blood I reckon. I would say we need them here in SA, but they would most probably get stolen. If not shot beforehand.

I recall a story about the horses running out of food in Durban or something to that effect

And then eaten. I've seen what townships do to cows knocked over on the side of the road. Meat is meat and a man must eat.
