Ag, when a team is drowning, any straw will be clutched at to stay afloat.
It is just one of those things that fans use to poke fun or justify things. At the end of the day, I couldn't care what United spend or whether a team that spends less finishes higher than them.
What is funny about the profit, the manager didn't sell the players to make a profit, he sold them because they were not good enough or didn't fit good system. So had they stayed, they probably would not be used much. That's where the net spend argument falls flat for me.
United made over £40m transfer profit in the January window. However the players sold hardly featured, so would make very little difference on the final standings.
On a side note, anyone catch the new Heineken ad with Jose in.
It is a bit embarrassing seeing that United are not in the champions league and may just miss out this year too.

No not our spending but that they are top 4 and make profit???? WTF has profit have to do with anything.

It has nothing to do with anything.
Not in my mind anyway.
It is just getting rid of the previous regimes signings.
But what I said about justifying, the flip side argument from kopite will no doubt be that if they finish outside the top 4, it would be justified as they spent the least of the top 6.

We can judge how nervous he his now, he will deflect and ramp up his United chirps.
Well, we already saw him descend into defensive mode with the "Liverpool are the greatest team..." blah, blah.
Now interested to see what he will come up with our "mid-table team" only being one point behind them.
Look, he is right. In Britian they could be the greatest. In Britain however, he would just be wrong.

As I said and have been saying for a long time..Pool are average and will get found out. Running around may have made them look like a poor mans Everton..but they just lack so much quality which is showing right now
