why is our soccer team so useless? rugby and cricket we are very good at (so we do have good sportsmen) but soccer? BEE is probably responsible for that, thats all I can think of, basically cricket and rugby consist of mixed races but bafana bafana is 100% BEE.

im not racist, but seriously makes you wonder...

How many countries actually participate and have infrastructure in place for Rugby and Cricket? Less than 10 for each sport.

Football? Maybe 150. By simple extrapolation, if you are third best in the world in those niche sports, you areactually in 45th place in football terms.

People being realistic about thing like this is sorely missing.....as is the grass root level support for football is in this country. It has nothing to do with BEE, as whites have typically been overrepresented in Bafana bafana, but more to do with the lack of focus at a youth (schools) level

i wouldnt class teams such as Ghana, Egypt, Algeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory coast as mediocre at all. Bafana yes.

As a percentage of the population, yes you are right. However, i firmly believe that a player needs to be on the pitch only if they deserve it. And using BEE as an excuse without looking at the underlying problems is just a copout and an excuse to whine.

So if they have 2 white players on the pitch, the whites are over-represented.....but deservingly so, so i dont have a problem with that. You lot seem to have a problem because there are only 2 whites on the pitch....and somehow having more whites will improve their play?

you got it wrong....noone is saying whites should be selected on the basis of race only (as blacks are)....we saying that it is a "fact" that there are a wealth of deserving white, coloured and indian players out there. Why are they not selected? simply becoz black gets preferential treatment in such matters....

im not interested in your percentages....its not about 5 or 8 players in the team its about knowing that there are so many players in the Bafana team taking up space for more deserving players....

They should not be basing selection on the population percentage of a certain race....period.

Thing is, back then that's all we knew. There was no tv and all we saw of overseas soccer was a 30 second clip at the movies.

And again , there was no international competition so if they had picked a South Africa 11 from the whiteys league they would probably not do too well either.
