You collapse; you've had or are having a MI (heart attack) or go into a diabetic coma or you having a stroke so you can't move, 1 side of your body is completely lame - run with this... insert whatever here...

Your kids are in the house, would they know what to do? who to call? What would they think? Laugh at daddy/mommy, I mean, it can look 'funny' ! Or, hey, YOU are sleeping! :(

Think about this...

Now throw some curve balls into the scenario, especially those with younger kids; You have food cooking in the oven or you've locked up everything (as we normally do); a fire starts - so instead of 1 issue, there is now 2.

Run with this...

Do your kids know what to do, whom to call in case of a life threatening emergency?
Some kids will say "We'll call the police" GREAT ANSWER! But do they know what number to call? Have you tested them?

Guys... I know the certain few will post some really stupid answers here (because that's how they are, and they welcome too) but on a serious note here... I want you guys to think about this question I've posted and see where you go.

I keep posting on Twitter about what to do in emergencies, but that's on Twitter - the reality is, many don't know what to do and never bother to educate their kids because they assume schools do it and many don't so with that said, think of this as a friendly reminder...

My daughter knows exactly what to do as she is alone in the afternoons and holidays with my elderly MIL who has hip problems and sickly etc. ICE, she knows to FIRST lock up our dogs so help has access to property and then either call our neighbourhood watch, not police/ambulance and if she is unable to call, then run to the neighbours. She is 10. We recap the drill every few months.

This makes one think. My daughter is 4 now, and learn all these things at school too. BUT, the thing is in a hectic scenario like the above, what will she do then.

Thought about stuff like this a lot. My wife works odd hours...and I'm often with our 3yr old son, just the 2 of us. If I had to trip and knock myself out or something...no idea what would happen! It is a scary thought...but I have no idea if he is even old enough to grasp the concept of a serious accident, and how to respond to it... :wtf:
