Ford has recalled a total of 2804 EcoSports in Australia over a suspected wiring defect.

The issue in question may cause the side airbags to not deploy correctly in the event of an accident.

According to the official release published on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) website, vehicles built from June 15th, 2013 through to August 26th, 2014 are subject to this recall.

The official statement says "The curtain airbag, seat belt pre-tensioner and side impact sensor circuits have been incorrectly orientated in the main wiring harness."

This recall is not related to the Takata corp issue that has impacted multiple brands globally.

Ford India exports the EcoSport to various markets world-over including Australia, South Africa, Taiwan and several European countries.

So far the recall has only been confirmed in Australia.

In India, curtain airbags are standard with the Titanium AT and Titanium (o) variants.

Received a recall letter. Seems that under certain conditions, then fuel tube and fuel vapor tube may corrode. Certain (they don't state which ones) derivatives are recalled.

Ford India has recalled 20,752 units of the EcoSport crossover to check their fuel and vapour lines for corrosion in the long-term.

This recall involves vehicles manufactured at the Chennai plant between January 2013 and September 2014.

Additionally, the company will also check the vehicles for reorienting the wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags.

Ford is writing to customers and asking them to contact their local Ford dealer so that the necessary parts can be replaced. The work will be carried out free of cost.

Earlier this month, Ford Australia had recalled the EcoSport for a wiring defect, which could result in the side airbags not deploying correctly in the case of an accident.

In 2013, Ford India had recalled the EcoSport diesel to reposition the Glow Plug Control Module.

Did the recall in Dec. the fuel fix is quick. The airbag fix takes a while as the wiring goes through the dashboard. So be prepared to have your car there for the whole day
