Ford fiesta MK6 squeaky brakes advice

I had my brake pads and discs replaced in 2013 at a brake fitment center, after they were done the brakes started having a squeaky noise. I went back to report the problem, they were lubricated but the noise didn't stop.
I asked around and was told that they probably used cheap brake pads.

I want to replace the brake pads now but I don't want to make the same mistake of changing them without having a clue and end up with cheap one or worse problems. Firstly I would like to know where is the noise coming from is it brake pads? Do they need to be replace and skimmed for the noise to go away? Im considering replacing them with Ferodo, is that a good brand?

Your advice and input will be greatly appreciated.

Yes , use Ferodo Premier. Excellent pad. I used then on my MK6 ST. (Just not great for the track though). You cant skim pads, only the discs.

Ferodo are good, hard wearing pads and don't make too much dust. Out of habit, whenever I am filling up at a petrol station, I check the tyres myself and use the compressed air to blow the dust out of my brakes too.
