Hi,

I am in the market for new car and after a lot of research and findings have decided to go for the FORD FOCUS 2l GDI Sport. I am getting a pretty good deal and was just wondering about the fuel consumption?

Currently I am driving a diesel so consumption is pretty darn good.

Ford Claims Combined cycle of 6.7l/100km.

Can anyone give me their personal experience?

Will be very much appreciated.

Regards

I'm on my second 2.0GDi Sport. First car was a German 2012 and my current car is a Thai 2013 model.
When doing exclusively stop-start city driving I average 9.5-10L/100km. It's very light on the highway though... 5.8L/100km @120km/h. A really good figure for a 125kw 2.0 petrol engine in a big body, imho.

Note that I have a heavy right foot :)

Have a look at some of the real world consumption figures(at the bottom of each article) Car Magazine achieved with their long term Focus GDi Trend. It uses the same engine as the Sport.

My personal experience over a period of 21 months is:

City: 9.5L/100km (up to 10L/100km if pushing it )

Highway: 5.8L/100km (averaged over mostly 1200km round trips out of town)

Combined cycle: 7.65L/100km

i have the ST and with somewhat disciplined driving i got 8.5L/100km for a 185kw 2.0L motor that's not too bad. They Clam 7.0L but then you will have to be driving 100km on the highway with little to no drastic driving. When my car was new and i just put in petrol i drove slow as a grannie and i managed 5.5L for 30km.. but that didn’t last long.

I am sure you will manage 7.5L easy.
