How are you enjoying that 2.4's fuel consumption? Its ridiculous that thing!

2l diesel @ about 9.4l/100km - I can live with it.

EDIT - it's no speed machine, thats for sure, but we often use those rear seats… and I can fold all the seats down and sleep in it :)

I've always wanted a cougar, but I hear they can be expensive to maintain.

Was also looking at the Kuga but i've seen the light, one word... Skyactiv.
Just look next door, get 7/100 easily on the open road, 8 in town if you're always late like I am. Was surprised with the real world figures. I smirk everytime I drive past a Kuga these days.

I will go for the 2.0 TDCI, my real world figures on my focus is 6.7 l per 100 km. and that is without trying to save fuel.

Aren't the engine a bit lazy though? I'm just judging by other 2 litre naturally aspirated SUVs I drove. This one might be different story.

I tested the 2.2 diesel CX5, love love it! 50k above budget though

Would love to! I also once owned a 2.0 TDCi Focus.
But the Kuga in diesel is just too rich for me. Almost half a mil for the powershift version! Ouch.

121kw if i'm not mistaken which isn't bad. Look the diesel is incredible, but the 2L wants to rev its tuned for eco low down but once the revs climb it feels fine. It's quite refined so it feels slower than it actually is, once you look at the speedo you realise you're doing 140 instead of 80 smooth as silk. I'm at the coast so it might be fine here, I guess up in the highveld the 2.5 petrol & 2.2 diesel should be much nicer but down here bang for buck wise the others didn't make sense to me. If i'm not mistaken the 0-100 times for the petrol is faster or nearly the same as the diesel the diesel just pulls like a demon from the get go.

I might actually go give it a drive before making a decision. But I'm worried about its effectiveness up here at altitude... Would be great if it impresses!

Rev it a bit the gearing is longish and favours economy but keep it on a boil and it feels good
