FordPass Connect modem and app launched in South Africa

Ford has launched its FordPass Connect modem and FordPass app in South Africa, allowing owners of new Ford ranger models to perform advanced command and control functionality and see relevant vehicle data on their own smartphone device.

“FordPass Connect makes life simpler and easier and, as Ford South Africa’s best-selling vehicle – which is locally produced at the Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria – it is the first to offer this innovative technology as standard,” the company said.

Had this discussion a while back, when looking at things connected on my router.

First it was my PC, then my phone, then my TV, laptop, printer, tablet, raspberry-pi, PS4, and what, now in 2021, my BAKKIE is also on the internet? Do I need to create a facebook account for it as well? Set parental limits so that it doesn't text nude pics of its low profile tyres to its Hilux mistress after having a vet kuier at Sprinkbokkies on a Saturday after the game, only to regret it in the morning because its so impractical you can't survive the potholes on the way back home from the bar, or climb sypaadjies because it's going to scratch your rims?

Next thing you know it's on TikTok, sneaking off in the middle of the night with the fellow kids, yeeting, capping and roflcoptering around Cape Town, but as useful in a fight as a Gym Bro when encountering a BBBB (boerewors, biltong, braaibroodjies en brannas) fuelled boer from Limpopo. All show, but no tell. Hell, if you fart hard enough against the bullbar you put a dent in the koffieblik-like wannabe-metal.

Yeah I noticed this too. You need to remove the 0 from the beginning of your number for it to work.

Is anyone else using this on a new ranger? I have a 2021 wildtrak. the App can do remote start but doesn't show any vehicle info aside from "glove box" on the vehicle screen. i.e no fuel, oil, tire pressure, etc.
