Five years - that's how long it's been since the Ford Figo was first launched in South Africa in 2010.

In May, the automaker has revealed the second-generation of its popular Figo, set to arrive in South Africa towards the end of 2015.

For the first time, the Figo will be available in two body styles: the familiar hatchback and, for the first time, a sedan variant.

Prices and details will be announced closer to the launch though Ford SA confirms the range will expand with the addition of more derivatives and specifications in the future.

Buyers of the new Figo will have a choice of transmissions including a new auto.

As before, petrol and diesel derivatives will be available.

Still based on the Fiesta 5 platform, although "highly modified".

Would still rather buy a properly assembled 2nd hand Fiesta than a Indian "knock-off" Fiesta (Figo)

A 1 year old Fiesta sells for R10 000 more than a new Figo and R40 000 more than a 1 year old Figo.

I think he's referring to the old Fiestas that the Figo looks similar to.

Even worse, 2007 to 2009 car going for R60 000 to R85 0000 (going on autotrader prices) with 100 000km or more vs 2014 Figo at R105 000 with 20 000 and something km on the clock?

Considering how many people finance these little cars.... That won't make a big difference. For me, I'd go for a one or two year old Fiesta rather.

Wonder how big the boot space will be for the sedan.

My CPF stuff takes up a lot of my hatches boot space.
