Also depends on the rules of the complex, I get an e-mail letter every year stating that fireworks are banned anywhere inside our estate.

They kicked up a fuss in mine when they did this, now we get nothing.

Its still not cool just because the by laws bow to "my religion" doesn't mean I have to sit through a ****ing war zone.

Its festival of lights not festival of trying to recreate Vietnam

@Deadmanza lol.... EADC means business as you can see hahaha. This is very personal for him. Compares a religious celebration to Vietnam pheewww.

Why did they attend Diwali, curiosity? I guess they all live in the same complex, so... was their permission to have the celebration? It is ultimately the city and body corporate which must give allow the activity within the legal spectrum.

Race this, race that. Get it on a recording.
Was it racist though? Was the perp white or black?
No mention of race. Strange.

We all say things when we're angry, right? Doesn't mean he's racist.

If I call the lady who almost ran into me yesterday a white bitch, does that make me racist?
wait, I think it does.

 Can't remember who it was but someone(edit) used the 'white trash' term a while back, I used the laughing smiley with 'you realise that's' racist' reply or something to that effect and then crickets. I took no offence and no one else commented. Had someone said black trash all hell would have broken loose so I doubt you would catch much flak for white bitch.

Municipal bylaws trump complex rules, the complex is within the boundaries of the municipality and have to adhere to bylaws like anybody else.

Yes, they didn't explicitly mention the race of the offender other than,

“He was a big-sized guy like a rugby player. He came and crushed all our fireworks,” said Ramlall.

which also isn't an indication of the race unless 'everyone' presumes that only white people play rugby.

Not as I understand. The bylaws allow pets, body corporates say no then it is no

Wrong way around. If the municipality says noise allowed 24/7, and the complex says only until 10 PM, complex wins. If the municipality says 2 pets allowed, and complex says none, complex wins.

Would be an interesting test case but I think in this instance fireworks where allowed by the City bylaws (for a certain time) but perhaps not by the complex rules

Complexes are allowed to enforce their own rules within their boundaries according to the Constitutional court

https://www.iol.co.za/ios/news/mount-edgecombe-estate-wins-right-to-impose-speeding-fines-25548134

The SCA had ruled the roads within the estate were not public and the estate did not usurp the authorities by regulating them.

It also ruled the residents were contractually bound to the estate’s rules, which were enforceable.

Jeff Gilmour, president of the Association of Residential Communities, said the Concourt ruling was not just about traffic fines but all rules imposed by estates on their residents, “such as when they may hold parties at their units”.

He said residents entered into agreements with respective estates and agreed to abide by their rules.

We have a rescue who is terrified of fireworks or any loud noises, calming meds do jack for him. Its supposed to be a festival of light, not make it sound like a warzone, the bunch of twats in my area were carrying on last night again. Poor dog has been in a state since Friday night with all the fireworks.

If the complex says no pink houses they can sue you for painting your house pink.

I understand security but I think you are some kind of masochist buying into a system like that.

Probably would have done the same only adding the act of shoving a firecracker up each of their arses.
