Forget Bakkies. Instead, look a little closer to home...

As someone who has lived in both countries and still spends a fair bit of time back home...I can tell you that the Aussie supporters are much less 'concerned' about SA than you lot appear to be about them.

The 'lager' mentality comment is not far off the mark...there is this tendency or paranoia that 'everyone is against us' , 'we will show them' etc etc whereas in the press over here there is very little anti SA comment...don't tell everybody shhhhh ..they are just not that worried about you guys.

Go look at the S14 and tell me how many SA players got cited, then how many Aussies and finally how many Kiwis? Then I can recall 3 incidents where a kiwi / aussies should have been cited. Lets start with the High tackle on Habana where he nearly made a backflip... that was not made into half the uproar that a couple of other minor things the boks have done were made into.

Then the other things was that most of the B&I lions backed Bakkies... and as shown in the video clip 2 seconds after bakkies clears the mall illegally the nr2 from the B&I lions comes in from the side and does the exact same thing! Why was he not cited?

Maybe the Saffers think they still have to 'prove themselves" ...why? Let your results speak for themselves and be realistic about how those results were achieved.

...and btw, you've got to come up with a better sledge than "sheep shaggers" ...everybody knows that's the Kiwis;)

No we don't we just don't like it when the pot calls the kettle black ;) And why should we take it when clearly they are doing the same things?

Ps the aussies are the people who whine the most. Where was botha called for chucking, murli? The even tried it an Malinga..... They were also the ones complaining loudest about the S14 but they bring the least viewers to the table....

In the UK, rugby is generally played and supported by university level educated people. Football is the working class game. Football fans are a bit more "rough" around the edges. Football is more tribal.

I know that many rugby players in South Africa played for universities. Whether they had the benefit of any education is doubtful. Same goes for most of the supporters. About as doff as the football supporters imo.

I agree with the comments of "blah blah blah". All true fans will support their team at all costs. I do not think it is at all a laager mentality. It happens all around the world. Do you think any hard core Argentinian fan came out in condemnation of Maradona's hand of God? Of course not.

Anyway I couldn't be bothered reading the rest..... just to add that I just saw a programme on Supersport 1 about the Lions tour. They spoke to a number of Lions fans and tour organisers and every single one of them said they had a terrific time in South Africa, which you may argue they would do when they have a camera in their faces, but then every one also went on to say how friendly and welcoming the people of this country were to them!

Yes, we may take our anger out on the Lions players on the field but that is what makes us enjoy the sport. Of course it is always going to be the opposition who is in the wrong. That is why we call ourselves fans. We aren't fence sitters or diplomats.

Anyone is green can do no wrong! And what is wrong with having that mentality anyway?!?!
