seen it a few times, bend your wiper if you dont "tip generously"
Ag kuk man....
So the attendant that works there, will damage your car if you don't tip? And then you get out, call the manager/owner and the guy gets fired...

This happens with beggars and windscreen washers at some intersections, but not at a petrol station.

I always tip these guys. They're always super friendly and chatty and smiling. R10 or a R5 is not gonna make ME poorer...

because instead of doing something useful, that advances the country or society.
you do an antiquated job, that the motorist can EASILY do themselves.

same thing with cashiers, WHY do you need them? I mean self service checkout is very easy to implement
but instead we need the same lady with same attitude looking at you funny if you brought your own bags,
or you have your woollies or smart shopper card saved on your phone, and she needs to TYPE it in to the machine.

I just have a problem with these "filler" jobs,
yes I realize what they are for. any why they still around, but they are more people than we ever actually need.
I mean automation is coming, like it or not,

and what going to happen to these people?
youll have a self service checkout, operated by a cashier?
or like we have right now, a petrol station pump FULLY EQUIPPED with self service,
with an ugly attendant tag for the useless guy doing what you perfectly capable of doing.

Skin of a Rhino....

one simple suggestion to you. Move out of Satafrika. This is the way it is. We're tired of you expressing your overseas experience. Take it to the higher powers. If you stay, deal with it.

so when you come overseas, and shock and horror have to refuel your own car,
are you going to spontaneously combust from the effort it takes?

do you have to go to a special university and write a thesis on how I refueled a car?
or are you going to finally admit, its a job that can go away quite easily without anything major being affected?

Managing director of a Volvo dealership gave him a job as a trainee petrol attendant? He couldn't put him in the workshop or something?

now that is something better to do with real prospects. (unless he is just a general worker)
not doing a job that the motorist can do themselves.

Are you going to employ those who are fired from their jobs so that we could self fill our cars? also Im quite happy having this as a service. No issues here. I pay too much taxes to have to do such K@k still...let me enjoy some relaxation....

again.....the dangers involved aren't worth it. This is not the states.

You might argue that a petrol attendant job is comparable to flipping burgers at McDonalds in the US yet I can do that myself too? If you cannot understand that any formal job in South Africa's economic reality is an opportunity to something greater for this guy then you are ignorant. If you can do better then go offer the guy gainful, permanent employment.

Do you clean your own office? Do you clean your own house? Do you paint your own walls? Clean your own car? Ever buy fast food?

Was it you pumping the gas?

no I was a passenger in a bus, and this guy didnt get his tip,
did something weird with the wiper arm. bent it and ran away.

had a small argument with the guy but the rest of the journey kept looking at the bent wiper arm.
so yes, have seen when petrol attendants get pissed off with you, what they are capable of doing.

Still calling bollocks on this story.

The attendant ran away you say? To where? the office to try and hide?

And he didn't bend while cleaning the windscreen? I find it hard to believe it.
