Johannesburg- Former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko’s wife has been slapped with a devastating R48-million tax bill.

Elizabeth Mosima Koko now faces the possibility of losing her properties as the taxman threatens to attach and sell them to offset her blood-curdling bill. News of Mosima’s running batt les with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) came to light when the taxman obtained a default judgment against her at the Joburg High Court last week.

According to court papers, which we have seen, Mosima owed SARS over R35.2-million in unpaid personal income tax but the amount ballooned to R48.8-million after over R13.6-million interests accrued on the levied debt.

So much for wmc

Oh wmc is honest earned money..............

I truly hope these fvckers, all of the corrupt, have judgment days and end up extremely poor and in prison. (one can only hope)

SARS further advised Mosima to apply for a reduction of the amount owed if she was experiencing financial hardships.
Earned enough to be liable for a ~R50mil tax bill? There's no hardships there bro..

Only hardship is for the hardworking people these knuckle-draggers steal from.

Then again, they probably believe the Zumaism that they can't be corrupt, just like they believe they can't be racist.

All that money that Koko stole through his daughter...had to be funneled through somewhere.

Chickens coming home to roost when you...or your accountant, are to stupid to do it right.

Yup, was wondering how she managed to earn enough money to be on the hook for 36 million in taxes....

But it appears SARS decided to apply for judgment after its counsel and requests fell on deaf ears. Mosima hogged media headlines in 2017 when the Sunday Times reported that her daughter Choma’s company Ukwakhiwa Investments was paid at least R15.1-million by Impulse International, which scored contracts worth about R1-billion from Eskom.

But of course. :X3:

They probably can afford paying the amount, but would then reveal their hidden cash under the mattress and raise more questions.

You'd be surprised that they probably thought the party would never end and they did not put away as much as you think.

It can go either way, smart enough to stash away the cash and pretend to be poor, or dumb enough to spend all the cash and actually become poor.

As far as SARS is concerned for the wife there is no escape, if they take away the properties, you cannot bank on using the ill-gotten cash because they will be on your case as soon as you spend it.

Matshela has much better problems.

I doubt they spent all that in less than 5 years. Koko is too smart to have done that, he kept his nose out of the direct light throughout all this. And he knew who of the capital team were stealing. And his work for the Guptas must have delivered bags of cash like it did for the other pawns.
