Former Telkom CEO linked to MultiChoice deal

Former Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko has been linked to the deal where Canal+ seeks to acquire DStv-owner MultiChoice.

Canal+ is a significant shareholder in MultiChoice and has steadily increased its stake in the DStv owner over the past few years.

I don't give a $hit about Canal+ and Multichoice, I want to know why the hell he was driving around with fake number plates?

What it's about:

Africa Intelligence reported that the Vivendi-owned Canal+ is considering an alliance with Maseko.

Through this partnership, Canal+ wants to ensure it meets the 30% black ownership requirement for the MultiChoice deal.

The publication added that Maseko “could join MultiChoice either as a shareholder via a local company or as a director of the merged company”.

What it's maybe really about:

Motsepe is the president of the Confederation of African Football, while MultiChoice is a leader in sports broadcasting.
Maseko is ready for a big Afrifund Investments after a bid to buy a significant stake in Telkom failed in 2023.

Linked? That sounds corrupt.

However, since this is a Poegert production, I'm sure it was intended that way.

Weak bait, didn't work.

Maseko is not a bad option as Motsepe has ties to the ANC and one of his holding companies acquired NMIS Insurance Services from MultiChoice about 60%.

Wouldn't Motsepe try to censor out the news if it tried talking ill about the ANC I know he isn't part of the union but Cyril Ramaphosa is his BLN.

I don't know enough about it to comment.

I figure the only reason to own anything in this country is the tax benefits when it tanks every single year.

...and this is all BEE related, how is this deal going to benefit the broad based black economic empowerment when these elite businessmen are only enriching themselves further. I have no issue that they are in this business and making money, but then remove the BEE requirement and may the best businessman win the business

Cadres involved means one thing down the road.
