I'm still running 10.04 LTS due to it being very stable on my system, I wont be changing to Unity soon. I don't see how a rolling release approach would be different from what end users are currently getting via updates. This approach means no more code names, that would generalize Ubuntu. Whatever Ubuntu decide, I will stick, no other Linux distro makes Linux more enjoyable like Ubuntu does.

Like one of the comments said on that article, they are basically proposing a rolling release schedule.

I don't see what difference it would make to what they currently do, with releases every 6-months and updates in between. In my experience, issues with any new release were sorted out in a matter of months, sometimes not even that long.

Also, how is this guy a "former Ubuntu person", when the articles states this: "Former Ubuntu Developer Manager and now member of the Ubuntu Technical Board", that tells me he is still an "Ubuntu person", just is now involved differently?.

Heh, just saw <?php?>'s post, most stable version of Ubuntu I ever ran was 9.04, especially compared to 9.10, which almost drove me away from Ubuntu. However, I agree with <?php?>, will stick with Ubuntu regardless of what they do, still remains my favourite to this day. Since 10.10, have decided I will update only once a year, so my next update will be with 11.10, or at least, once the version of Ultimate Edition with 11.10 is released.

Ubuntu for large scale consumer based are the LTS releases--in between releases are 'test' builds, meant to introduce new concepts, ideas, and features. And iron bugs (hopefully). If features stick, then they are rolled out as a LTS every 18 months. This is a lifespan of a 'good OS. Compare with OSX, and now with Windows---every 18 months there are new versions, with 'development previews in between
