The reason F1 and MotoGP stopped being hosted locally is because the ANC government abandoned motorsport. The cadres do however show up in droves, demanding VIP treatment, when the 9-hour GT events happened. We couldn't even do a grid-walk this year because the fscking ANC cadres had their bodyguards keep those with grid-passes on the fringes to enforce "Covid protocols".

Phakisa was purposefully built to host international motorcycle races and that track has all but gone to shiit; there's no electricity or water supply at the track.

Unless the ANC is involved in a lucrative tender to modify Kyalami to meet F1 safety standards, the money to do this will have to come from private pockets.
