Foschini challenges Shein, Amazon with speedy delivery in South Africa

The Foschini Group Ltd. is mounting a challenge on its home turf as global giants Amazon, Shein, and Temu expand aggressively in South Africa’s e-commerce market.

TFG is leaning on its local advantage, using faster delivery times and a robust logistics network to counter international rivals’ typical 10-day waits, CEO Anthony Thunström said in an interview with Bloomberg.

I wasn't aware delivery times were the foremost driver of Shein and Temu's success in SA? Also, if you're not beating them currently at that metric you have bigger problems to worry about.

Yo, that's dumb.
That's how people live :-( they'll swipe their CC for a brand shirt that costs three times the PnP one, claiming the branded one will last as long. I've got PnP shirts going back 10 years

There I will disagree. PnP shirts are absolutely crap.

Jonnson Workwear, Ecko Unltd and my budget favourite https://vicbay.co.za/ will last for decades

(if you can manage not to get oil, butter, coffee on it or getting fatter or thinner )

All the PnP rubbish becomes sleep in shirts.

As I type this I am wearing a PnP t-shirt. It moulds to your chest and boep and when you get back in shape the chest and boep stays there. My other quality shirts resets at midnight. Seriously!

You know you're supposed to wash them right

It's hit and miss with their stuff.. all the t-shirts I have bought from them in the last two or so years are now in a terrible state.. ones older than that are still good..

I don't see how it can be a challenge to beat international delivery. Also unless they can focus on price and range I don't think it will be a success.

PnP is a hit and miss but then some stuff from Woolies have fallen apart. A lot of the stuff I bought 20 years ago from Edgars I'm still wearing.

Smells terribly like partner content.

Why the hell do you think delivery time is the yardstick here?

I ordered an e-gift card and it somehow took 5 days for them to deliver it via email. wouldve hated to imagine ordering from something that needed to be physically delivered.

TIL ... thanks for the tip

always looking for quality, plain colour clothing, been meaning to try Jonnson Workwear, but holy hell Vic Bay is way cheaper

100% agree on PnP, been there, done that ... threw away the t-shirt

Daniel Hechter is also decent quality at Truworths, but that's R220 a t-shirt
