Daily sun?
Meanwhile, reports of poaching incidents involving wild South African lions are sporadic and have not been conclusively linked to the lion bone trade. Poaching has instead been associated with rural communities, for example the African traditional medicine trade.

Called iBhubese in Zulu and iNgwenyama in Xhosa, lion body parts are used in African traditional medicine ("muthi") preparations

From your link
Back in December 2009, "Anger over lion bones sales" was the first newspaper article in South Africa to highlight the existence of a legal trade in African lion bones that were being used as a substitute for tiger bones in East-Southeast Asia.

The killing of lions and humans to make potions and charms has been widespread in South Africa for a few hundred years.
So it's not apartheid's fault or blame can't be laid at the doorstep of colonials.
It is quite clear that we can blame those who claim to be natives.
Please google "natives" before you pull the race card!

Cherrypicking ne? Lion parts have been used in muti for ages. Nothing more to say.
Saw the bit about use if lion fat in medicine. But that would involved taking entire carcass and not just paws and jaws

Not at all.
The point is that the natives still have to destroy value in order to cure a non colonial sickness.
Their muti is their muti.

Why do you think that the lions were killed?

Like trophy hunters do?

Lions are killed for various reasons and in this case, for the claws and most probably teeth. This case has all the hallmarks of killing for Chinese medicine.

I never said they were.
The heads and paws of both white lions were chopped off and suspected to be used for muti.
The web is littered with articles of claws, teeth and bones being used in Chinese medicine but you want to convince me with "suspicions" that they're going to be used to make local muthi?

Lol

Those have owners permission, try another angle.

Bottom line, it's probably locals that did the work.
