Electricite de France (EDF) said it is likely to extend cuts to nuclear generation as scorching weather pushes up river temperatures, bringing the energy crisis in the EU’s second-largest economy into sharp focus.

Europe’s biggest producer of atomic energy, usually a net exporter of power for most of the year, is importing now. The nuclear issues are not just a problem for France but for countries such as neighbouring Germany, which may have to burn more gas to keep the lights on instead of preserving the fuel in storage for winter.

The French utility said late on Tuesday that power stations on the Rhone and Garonne rivers will likely produce less electricity in the coming days, but there will be a minimum level of output to keep the grid stable. A heatwave is pushing up river temperatures, restricting the utility’s ability to cool the plants.

If only there were some method of warming the earth on a global scale.
Then we could melt ice in the mountains and more rivers would flow or flow stronger.

Or perhaps we could build these plants close to a large body of water, like an ocean.

Tell me where my options are mutually exclusive of the article mentions ?
Snow melt would cool rivers and strengthen them.
Oceans are used to cool many things.
Comprehension my dear Watson, comprehension.

Only one power station affected so far. Others are running at a lower capacity due to something else...

Which is mentioned in the headline ?
Nope the headline didnt mention maintenance and checks.
"The headline or heading is the text indicating the nature of the article below it."
So still not mutually exclusive with my ideas.

It's in the article.
The embattled utility has estimated that output this year will be the lowest in more than three decades as multiple plants are shut for maintenance and checks. Its troubles are forcing the nation, traditionally an exporter, to rely on imports from neighbours including the UK, which is facing its own energy crisis.

So, nuclear, just like any other green energy seems to be a f**kup too. Get back to coal mining. This is tried and tested and the future of the world.
"Green", and you didn't check how much water a coal power plant uses (hint: it's ~80% of nuclear per MWh, same issue).

Yes its in the article.
Which is why i mentioned it.
Cooler stronger rivers, would mean more capacity for generation.
Or using the ocean/sea is not mutually exclusive of the article mentions.
Why did you feel the need to reply ?
Its not like you had some insight which i missed.

Explain this then...?

Headline definition was given since you missed that my proposals.
Would possibly help generational capacity.
I mentioned maintenance and checks because previously people assumed i had not read the article.
So not mutually exclusive as a solution to the article and the woes mentioned.
Think of it as a holistic approach.
Still unsure why you felt the need to reply.
You didnt add any insight.

I'm lost. Let's look at the first comment I replied to.
