an interesting story from a motoring forum and luck for the finder / buyer

So, Long story short, I was walking around the yard at my work with my boss as we were going to be clearing the place out a bit. Down the bottom of the yard I see this Mercedes just lying there. I ask him what the story is with it. He says apparently it used to be Freddie Mercury's, But in his eyes it was just an old Merc in his way.
So I went in and did some research. It was definitely Freddie's, and apparently the Merc was his favorite car too.

So a deal was made, V5 was signed and I got it picked up.
Putting it on a trailer was a challenge in itself, its a big car that hasnt moved in 15 years. Winch on the front and a Justy pushing at the back. Eventually it was on and good to go.

15 years and still looks so good? In SA it would have been stolen (or stolen in pieces).

But that is cereal amazing.

quite amazing;

wonder exactly how it got there in the first place?

also how do they know its actually his? I mean do they have old photos with that plate?
I understand he didnt drive, so how do we know thats actually his car, and not a limo hire company?

Stupid question i know, seriously going off on a tangent here,
But did they match vin numbers?

How do they know that it isn't somebody who changed plates?

I mean surely princess Diana's Audi could be cloned by moving the plates across?
So same here, not saying i doubt it but it seems odd how this car was abandoned in somebodies yard,

I'd imagine it in a museam somewhere,

Like hitler's Mercedes Benz , people don't just stumble onto famous cars just rotting in a field

Yup, this is the UK, and not South Africa - the fact that he has the V5 means that everything is Kosher. :)
