31118 is a Vodacom shortcode that they use for people that qualify for certain promo's to opt in or redeem their offer.

I have seen on new prepaid staterpack where you SMS RED to 31118 to get free data on recharges and sms FREE to get a power hour calling bundle everytime you recharge with R29 or more.

So if you did not receive a SMS saying you have to sms for anything you have not been chosen for the promo and sending a sms to that number doesn't matter.

Yeah its very funny I have a cheap R36 per month uChoose flexi R50 that Edgars subscribed me to on a extra number that I have and its getting 1GB data a month and R50 airtime.

I took out a sim only deal directly from vodacom online and now I'm getting R200 airtime and 1GB data a month for R129 so Vodacom is not that bad actually.
