Free 1GB from Vodacom, for some subscribers

I've been a Vodacom customer for 20 years and they've never given me anything for free.

Valued at R150? Is that a joke or something?

I am convinced most consumers/customers would instead opt for more affordable rates, instead of a random gift every now and then.

This really begs the question, why do Vodacom do this? Is giving out free Gigs to random users really an effective way of marketing their brand and making those customers less likely to switch to a competitor?

Good question and I agree

Sure about that?

Won't you mail me your MSISDN? I'll check.

I believe you have pm's disabled, last I checked.

Eventually dumped that Phillips G7000 Videopack Computer you were interested in because of that.

Assume I can get the msisdn in Android settings/about? Edit: is that the imei?

My boss on MTN also got 1GB a week or what back on a similar promo if I understand correctly... I won't say no for an additional gig on my VC sim though. But lower overall prices would be nicer yes even though I understand that giving a few peeps 1GB of free data probably costs them less than lowering their tariffs across the board.

Yep, last time I tried as well.

MSISDN is the phone number.

Got 3x of these SMSs already. i.e. Last 2 months.

Don't really need it (ADSL) but with wifi hotspot on my phone I've help out half a dozen people...

Correction: I did get a yagi since 3G didn't work at my house in Melkbos and there was the 384 Kbps to 1.8 Mbps pcmcia card swapout and the new cards flylead I came to get at your house in Plattekloof.

Thought you had my email. Will PM you.

/you got PM.

I disabled PMs long time ago as I'm often not on the forum for weeks and got accused of not responding to support calls. Which should go to VD in any case. ;)

Customers are selected based on various criteria, like the cellular plan they are on and what their typical habits are.
If you're not going to use it you're gonna get it?

Vodacom your 3G connection is crap! I am working in JHB CBD and can't even remember when last the signal was strong enough to download anything. Most of my data seems to just be unusable during work hours.
