Gmail, and link them all in there.
Thanks guys - had a gmail account as well - and it took less than five minutes to set up receiving all my mails into the gmailbox incl. setting up the notifier - so thanks for the advice - was expecting a hassle..
Hi all. Any suggestions for a good email GUI for Vista where I can get a consolidated view of all my web based mail accounts? Thanks
Personally, on the PC or laptop I use Windows Live email program. Can add any imap or pop account that you have, including gmail, windows live mail, ovi, yahoo etc, all with their own in-boxes, sent mail etc. Very nice interface and easy to set up and use...just a thought
Tx Gary. I downloaded and tried this - but for some reason it wouldn't accept my webmail.co.za address.
Webmail accounts such as gmail etc can be done automatically but for other accounts and pop3 mail you need to enter the settings manually. I just tested it again by adding an email account, but in the set up, I put in the e-mail address but checked the "manually enter setting for this account" check box, entered the server settings etc, and could receive without any problem. My own personal opinion about this program is that if you are not going to use something like outlook which is not a free, then this Windows Live mail program is the best free one around, with the cleanest interface and with calendar support etc.
I must've done something incorrectly then. I'll give it a try if GMAIL doesn't satisfy my requirements over the next couple of days. Thanks
Just a word of caution, if you send a mail from your main GMail account as another GMail account (I hope that makes sense), the main GMail account's address will appear in the header of that mail. This doesn't happen if you send mail as (for example) your webmail account.
This can be sorted out by setting up gmail to send the email as if it's sending from the other account. If you look in the gmail settings, you'll see how to do it. It involves a verification email in the actual account's email. If you haven't gone through the verification email process, then you will experience the above problem.
Adding a custom 'From' addressPrint
Your Gmail address will still be included in your email header's sender field, to help prevent your mail from being marked as spam. Most email clients don't display the sender field, though some versions of Microsoft Outlook may display "From yourusername@gmail.com on behalf of customaddress@mydomain.com."
The following is N/A as Google is my "other" email provider
For this reason, if you don't want 'on behalf of' to appear in any of your messages, we recommend using the SMTP servers of your other email provider.
