You're lucky enough to be in a position to have 100M already?
I mean that's true but as the poster I quoted said, for the next few months people on 40Mbps will be paying less for the same speed that I have.

I'm not really complaining, I just feel like 100Mbps should have also been upgraded like everyone else. But I'm still happy with the speed I have :)

I had no idea an upgrade happened, no email from Afrihost, I saw that openserve had increased bandwidth, but being on an obsolete package, I was not expecting any joy, it is great that they did, just why no email is a bit confusing, I think according to speedtest it is a 20meg line, but who knows....it is more than 8... saw a download number I have not seen since 2013...2.15 down...normally 985k....

Yes that is 20Mbps or 2.15MB/s

At R399 you are paying the lowest rate of everyone in SA for a 20/10 line and speed for this 3 months.

You don't need an email. You got an upgrade 4 days ahead of schedule. Just enjoy it. The fact the Afrihost is giving it for free is a bonus. At the rate you are paying R399 they are 100% losing money on you.

Does anyone know why @Frogfoot Fibre has excluded Bliz complexes from these upgrades ?

Speculating here

We are a old Blitz Fibre apartment, part of 4-5 next to each other that are connected to the same node

Frogfoot is not in the area around us, so our node has its own backhaul which most of the time is congested

ie. areas that are already congested it doesnt make sense to double everyones speed (I dont think Frogfoot PE in general got it either)

My speed has been increased but its not running at max capacity on a speed test, with some wierd results. I am on a 40/20 line and im now getting about 55dn/60up ???? .Openserve line through Axxess.

My 50/50 supersonic line has gone to a 300/300 line.... Shhhhhh....

My openserve Telkom fibre 20 down / 10 up has become 20 down / 20 up today.

My openserve Telkom fibre 20 down / 10 up has become 20 down / 20 up today.

That means Telkom is capping the account speeds. The line speed has increased but the account is still capped at 20/10. If you want the full speed to test you can get a free or small adsl capped account and dial that pppoe details and do a speedtest. Cybersmart is offering a 20GB free capped account if you want to test that.

20mbps Symmetric - Afrihost - SADV.
Finally increased to 50mbps after almost a month.
Updated poll vote.

Nevermind, Got this reply ....

Good day,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your email.

Unfortunately, we were unable to successfully negotiate with Vumatel to be part of the speed upgrade for the lockdown promotion for our clients on the Vumatel infrastructure.

Our speeds on the Vumatel infrastructure will not be increased.

Vumatel jou mal aunty se soup

I so don't agree they are loosing money even if they pushed the speed to 1G/second, please explain how they, the ISP are loosing money, if they were, they would have been in court day 1, hour 1 fighting any attempt at a speed increase.. From an accounting background, if it was such an issue, why have we not reverted back to the glory days of dial up when we paid by time unit consumed and not what is in essence a single month long session???

Because the raw line rental fee for a 10/5 Openserve line that the ISP needs to pay Openserve is about the R399 you pay in total for the service.... What about IPC, National and International transit. Overheads like staff costs banking fees if you pay by card month ect.
