Free fibre speed upgrades - When you can expect yours

SADV has also indicated that they will be upgrading line speeds. However, no timelines have been mentioned.

If your Internet speed is your biggest problem, then you have nothing to complain about.

What has been omitted is that Frogfoot customers in Port Elizabeth will not get this free upgrade.

I'm still surprise that Frogfoot is able to put out communications to end customers directly. Surely that goes against the foundation of open networks and privacy?

I also did not get the upgrade on 1 April as per Frogfoot letter.

If I promised Frogfoot a payment 'on 1 April' and then on 2 April, when asked, mentioned that it was 'more complex than I thought', and there 'may be' a payment sometime before 6 April, they would be pretty p$ss#d

It's also weird that all the video providers are slowing down links and the fibre operators speeding up

I'm with WebAfrica, on a Telkom line. I have a 100GB softcap, and while I'm way over already (I'm on something like 120GB in my 30-day rolling window), I'm still not throttled much. My Speedtest results are still 4ms/4.55up/9.71down, which is absolutely normal on a 5/10 line.

Out of curiosity, what made you select that product? A (soft)capped product on a fibre line?

Well As per Vuma the line speeds for 20mbps should have been done by now - guess what? Still 20mbps...

All good. Just don't promise things and then it doesn't happen.

Price, to be honest. It's cheaper than the totally uncapped option, and I never used the 100GB softcap per month until now. When wife and I find something we want to watch on Netflix or wherever I usually torrent it during the off-peak period that uses no data, so we can watch it offline. It's only now that we're all home, and I'm working from home that I'm doing more data.

I have to add that if I could work from home permanently, I really wouldn't think twice about it and upgrade to a bigger, faster line and go totally uncapped. That little bit of extra expense is worth every cent.

Hi @Jamie McKane , can you please publish a list of participating ISPs on Vumatel. This way I don't have to get my hopes up on if my line will get upgraded or not.

Seeing as Afrihost and Openserve regularly struggle to keep my connection near the contracted speeds, I am not getting my hopes up.

Except Cybersmart...they have confirmed they are not going to pass on the speed upgrades to their customers. Nice guys!

Sigh.My bad choice to be on Openserve. Was quickest to install despite Vuma passing the front of my house.
