# Orange, Slovak Republic, offers unlimited data transfers for €19 a month on their Internet maxi Plan
# T-Mobile, UK, offers unlimited data transfers for GBP 7.50 a month on their Web 'n' Walk Plan
# AirTel, India, offers nation-wide unlimited GPRS and EDGE for Rs. 6000/one year (US$ 10.75 per month).

Just wondered why vodacom could not allow free unlimited Gprs+Edge or just free Gprs for vodacom contract subscribers

Since most contract data users use 3g\Hsdpa why not scrap rates for Gprs?

Is this not a possibility? Since Gprs is slowly becoming redundant and speeds are unimpressive?

Problem is if it was free it probably wouldn't be redundant considering how much all other connections are here.

Connections are expensive
but its not really free free if your on contract,
just that your charged for 3G but not Gprs is what im asking

Im considering cancelling my contract once its ended and using Virgin
But if vodacom will not charge ridiculous rates for gprs out of bundle I'll stick with vodacom

doesnt anyone else agree?
no charge for Gprs or at least a real cheap flat rate

You will probably have to do that FIRST, before Vodacom will ever do something as "drastic" as that. I can't imagine VC doing something like that while everyone is CONTINUING to pay their rate anyway.

I got my Virgin Sim which now works nicely in my datacard, cancelled all my contract bundles and so far so good. It's great not worry whether i am still in bundle or when it expires and how much i have left.

Flat rate of say R100/m in addition to your contract subscription wouldn't be too bad and presumably still profitable.

i wouldn't really want to pay even R100/m coz vc gprs is really slow and you basically would have to be connected the entire day to get enough mb to make the R100 worthwhile.

gprs is faster than a internal 56k pc modem. Well thats my experience anyway.

at 100 bux a month 24/7, i would certaintly jump on that oppurtunity.

Same scenario here. Average Vodacom GPRS speed is 500B/s. On VM it is in the region of 5-10KB/s and on EDGE (which Vodacom doesn't seem to have  ) it's 20KB/s. So VM is the way better connection and Vodacom should get their act together as ever since 3G they are neglecting their GPRS customers.

A 56k modem gives you 4-6kB/s compared to VC speed above
