Hi,

I urgently need an SMTP server for Windows, be it a built-in windows server or a free 3rd party one.

The one feature it needs is to be able to relay through another SMTP server, and be albe to enter authentication details for this outside SMTP server.

I don't usually use Windows as servers so any help in this regard will be much appreciated

Thanks

mailenable

free and paid - the paid one is only R2K and is full IMAP, while the free is POP only. Very good, clean and easy to use.

Try the Mercury server from Pegasus mail - www.pmail.com

POP3 & IMAP

I don't know if it meets your relay needs, but I use Mercury and find it very good - way ahead of FreeSMTP. It is VERY stable.

SMTP is built into Windows.

Open start/control panel/add or remove programs

click add/remove windows components/choose IIS

click details

click smtp service tick box

hMailServer, might have a few tricks you need, and more:D
It's opensource and has an outstanding feature list and GUI.
http://www.hmailserver.com/
It's similair to Workgroup Mail (not a M$ product!), except it's free!
There is a lot of development on the product, and user forums.
