I tried to play STO as I am a huge ST fan. It is so terrible
If you put everything on full graphics it's not that bad.

Is your issue with the graphics?? Are you able to max it out? Honestly the graphics are really good, so I'm not sure if there's another problem?

Yeah I have everything on max. Graphics still terrible. I guess WOW, Aion and SWTOR have spoilt me. Im probably one of the biggest Star Trek fans out there and I thought I could play my way through the bad graphics. I was wrong

I'm on 8ta 3G, with a 3.6mbps modem. Average speeds are around 130kbps... Just slightly quicker than a 1mbps ADSL line. I am not in a great signal spot though... Does the job though!

It's wierd, half the reason I didn't play WoW was due to it's graphics....
That's the joys of varying taste though, not everyone 'likes' one thing. Except for the beauty of Frostbite2 or CryEngine

Im trying out Aion now that its gone F2P. I couldnt play LotrO cause of the bad graphics.

Stick with them on the rental and go with MWeb as the ISP bud? At least then if you have issues MWG can investigate....

Well ive played about 30 min of it, and its actually pretty good. Quality seems decent so far.

Must say Ive been playing STO during my Swtor off raid days and its fun enough for me to purchase the Odyssey Pack. What a great group of ships. Warp 19 on standard sliptream warp 30 with advanced slipstream and fully kitted with XI STF gear its got an amazing amount of firepower.

You'd be hard pressed to find any where the Dollar doesn't have a huge influence. Money talks, sad but true. I'd suggest looking into some older games that were subscription based but have turned free to play.
Probably not the best suggestion but WoW now has free play up to level 20 of your char. So if Blizzard can do that i'm sure there's got to be a gem out there.
