500MB Youtube data won't get you very far... almost looks like incentive to overspent watching Youtube...

Suckers will be suckers. Unless you specifically need your data to be rationed, these packages are a bad idea.

Prepaid will always be more expensive.

If you need only data, Telkom still have the best deal: LTE 40GB day + 40GB Night for R199/m on contract, or R249 on top up (you can cancel anytime after 3 months, default length is 24m). Prepaid is R249 for 20GB + 20GB (night) - which is still not bad.

With this, your SIM plan is "internet" though - if you use your SIM in a phone and make calls and such (e.g. SIM plan is per second / made for you / whatever marketing name they come up with), you will be shafted by all providers - data is an easy way to make money. It's like SMSs from pre-2010, before WhatsApp and BBM - you had to use it for short comms, and MXIT wasn't exactly used by businesses (nor did it use push notifications).

Not at all. Cell C Home Connecta is cheaper with 50gb + 50gb for R199 and it's prepaid not to mention valid for 60 days as well.
