So I am sitting at home, doing some work, and I get a request from someone telling me their smtp mail is not working. So i start with my normal investigations. First thing I did was try telnet into the smtp server on port 25. It does not connect, this has me worried as their are a lot of clients on the server. I restart the services, restart the server(!!!), and still nothing.

Eventualy I remember WBS`s STUPID policy. They have disabled SMTP to anything but their server. I find this to be a disgusting practice, as I know my servers are better than theirs.

Damm annoying I tell ya

well, blocking smtp servers, exepts ones own is a standard practice of most ISP world wide. I think it is for the prevention and controlling of SPAM
