Hi dudes,

I'm looking for a freestyle (non-network affiliated) usb HSDPA card that I can buy cash so that I can load Pre-paid Data Bundles. I do not want a contract-bound card and neither do I want a data contract.

Any brands that you know of and where can I get them? I want competitive prices...don't wanna pay 'an arm and a leg'.

;)

The MTN ones isn't network locked AFAIK.
The PCMCIA and USB versions will work with any sim in them.

I don't know where you would get "non-network affiliated" cards.. I've never seen unbranded ones before..
Anyway AFAIK the Huawei E220 is the only USB HSDPA dongle currently available.. (leastways available in S.A)... but you'll probably have to settle for an MTN or Vodacom branded one..
Mind you it's not bad.. the only branded part of my E220 is the box and the Windows software (which I don't use anyway).. the device itself has no MTN logos on it.. it's not even yellow.. :D

EDIT: By box I mean the packing it comes in..

If you look at some of the other E220 threads you will see that the Voda branded one has Voda software which is considered a bit "rough" and the guys are removing it to get more functionality (sending SMSs).

There isn't a lot of memory in the current hardware device (10Mb) and by using the software directly from it, you avoid having to load it - good if you're using more than one PC.

Why is MTN hardware so difficult to get. I've looked around and the Yello shops don't stock modems.
