Hi guys

Pretty much as simple as the title states.

I have a friend who's going to work in Netherlands for a year. She currently has an old Blackberry and needs an upgrade.

She has about R2500 to spend, so we're looking at the Moto G, as that phone is pure value for money.

Should she go there and buy a prepaid phone or buy one locally (From the Orange store - Best prices) ?

Is it possible to buy a prepaid phone in NL ? Or are they all attached to contracts ?

Also looking at it in terms of warranty, as she's a young girl, don't want her to buy a phone locally and go there and have issues with it and no option to return or repair.

Advice welcome. :)

Where to buy is purely subjective although often phones in the Netherlands are a bit cheaper, but check that model specifically. Then in terms of contracts you can get pay as you go there or you can get month to month contracts.

Use the following website and they usually allow contracts for foreigners:
https://www.gsmweb.nl

At the top click the provider with sim only contracts and look at monthly or 1 year options for the best buy.

For monthly tele2 is the cheapest I think but the others are good for 1 year contracts.

If it's only for a year, I'd recommend buying here for warranty purposes

It's more likely to fail in SA after having hopefully survived one year there - if of course it comes with a 2 year warranty. Otherwise, yes, it's better to buy there if the warranty is a year
