Vodacom is in my opinion negligent by leaving Galaxy Note 2 users vulnerable to the BlueBox discovered FakeID malware by not releasing the KitKat 4.4 update which Samsung released months ago. This malware can cost one a lot of money due the nature it operates. I know where my lawyer will be knocking if I fall pray to this.

Lol nice try. Perhaps sue Google & Samsung while you are at it. :p

We appreciate Bluebox responsibly reporting this vulnerability to us; third-party research is one of the ways Android is made stronger for users. After receiving word of this vulnerability, we quickly issued a patch that was distributed to Android partners, as well as to AOSP. Google Play and Verify Apps have also been enhanced to protect users from this issue. At this time, we have scanned all applications submitted to Google Play as well as those Google has reviewed from outside of Google Play, and we have seen no evidence of attempted exploitation of this vulnerability.

The statement didn't say exactly what Google did to patch the vulnerability or specify if any Android partners have yet to distribute it to end users. This article will be updated if company representatives elaborate beyond the four sentences above.

Android 4.4 is vulnerable to Fake ID, but not specifically to the Adobe System webview plugin due to a change in the webview component (the switch from webkit to Chromium moved away from the vulnerable Adobe-centric plugin code).

What makes you think the Note 2 4.4 update has this fixed?

Its not up to the network to provide the update. Sure they have to approve it but you wont be able to hold them liable.
If you are so worried about timeous updates then run CM or similar.

Vodacom takes it from Samsung, test it on their network, inject their Vodafone bloatware and configuration then release it OTA to subscribers on their network. CM does not support Galaxy note 2 S pen. Next time wash your mouth out about things you know something about. And remember, no one likes a wiseguy.
