Hi everyone,

When I usually go out for a meal at a restaurant I enjoy ordering a Margarita pizza - and my friends have caught onto this.

This is something strange that happened to me recently, and it's not the first time.

The first time I ordered a Margarita pizza with them I was told, "that's boring" "try something else" etc and I just shrugged it off and said no thanks, this is what I enjoy.

But, this has now happened a second time, when a friend asked me what I had ordered, I said a Margarita pizza and I was shown a L shaped finger sign and told that I'm a loser!

Now I have decided to try and explain to them why I like Margarita pizza's and so I came up with this analogy:

I said: When someone buys a sports car they buy it for the thrill and pure driving experience and not for the computer assisted driving etc etc, and so I enjoy a Margarita pizza in the same way.

I don't think my analogy got the message across?

So, what's your favourite pizza and what's your opinion on this?

Its hard to stomach this but i don't think they are really good friends... I had a really good friend for about 10 years and as of recently hes been a bit different / has turned into a bit of a dick. so ive been putting some distance between him and myself and been making a couple new ones.

The thought of it is never really nice but yeah...

Margaritas are pretty decent pizzas. I see no problem in ordering something you enjoy. personally, I like 4 season pizzas though.

Either you have poor taste in friends or are oversensitive.

And you care too much.

And you should totally try the Foresta! Way less boring than a stupid Margarita.

Thanks for the input.

@wez1007 - sadly I think it's getting to that. Having people around you that put you down isn't very healthy.

The conversation got a little heated as I felt like I had to defend my choice of meal. I eventually said: Luckily it's my money!

@Hamster - looks like a bit of both, I know I care too much about what others think, and I need to try and get out of that.

But these friends aren't that great when I have to deal with situations like this regularly.

Order a Bacon, feta and Avo pizza. You will love it.

Dear Mr Monty, instead of feeling offended or worry what people think or say when you order a starter pizza (Margarita pizza), you should find something about that person which could potentially make them feel offended and tease them about that, completely turning the attention away from you, on to them. Ok maybe not offend them, just make them feel uncomfortable.

Personally, if people say things I don't like, I like to make them completely uncomfortable. After 2-3 times they realize I do it, and then I make it clear to them, if you don't like it, stop making the comment you just did. They learn super quick, and it is never a problem again. Works 1000 times better than trying to explain why you like starter pizza as a main meal. The best part about this is, people will also start to respect your choices, and rarely question them or make negative remarks. Try it.

So, how does this work? Something like this?

Friend: Margherita? You are such a loser.

Monty: That's not what your mother said last night...

Hi Tinuva,

It's very interesting that you would bring up that approach.

I like that idea, it resembles the approach of defending myself, but with another angle.

So for example, she would say "You ordered a Margarita pizza again, you're such a loser".

Then would I hit back and say: "You wear purple alot, are you sexually frustrated"?

Would that be along the right lines?

There we go! You are pumping to conclusions just as my friends do - and basically look down at my meal decision (in a condescending manner).

No, I usually enjoy two soft drinks with the meal. It's not about the money, that's the point.

Ah, I thought so. So it shows a reaction in order to let the person know that they are stepping over a certain line!

What if this person is a female?
