But I'm now spoilt - restaurant pizza is just not as good.

I agree with this.
My wife and son prefer my pizza to restaurant pizza.
My son however still wants debonairs occasionally because he sees it as take away and kids need their take away or they feel like the world is against them.

I choose neither. Turns out the bread-maker my wife wanted for Christmas makes a awesome dough.
Then two pizzas - one for the kids with a chutney base, some bacon, cheddar and mozzarella (And a grated vegetable they normally refuse to eat - I am a parent)
And for us grown-ups. A nice base with tomato paste (well, mostly tomato paste and mango chutney :whistling:), mushrooms, red pepper, heirloom tomatoes, fresh rocket and parsley, a meat - like ham, bacon and or whatever we are in the mood for (We once used leftover snoek from a braai). And two cheeses.

Beats the rest- hands down.

That looks disgusting. Treat your kids to some Debonairs (or better if you have in your area) once in a while.

See. That's what we mean. Why should you care about someone else's opinion? They can give it, but doesn't mean you have to care about it. :whistling:

Haven't read through the entire thread yet, but why don't you ask them to buy you what they think you would enjoy if they're so worried about it.

That way you get to experiment on their tab :D

Charlie Superstar makes terrible pizza. Go to Wicker Woods rather.

I'll give them a try.
I'm not a fan of these so-called gourmet pizzas though.
I still feel I can make a better pizza with a cobblestone base.

Are you an accountant or engineer? :p

Interesting, what would make you ask that?

I don't think I have seen someone do the 'L' shape since high school. :wtf:

LOL! :D

Can i not be both?
I know this type, the cheapskate friend that eats at home and orders a starter meal with water.
Im sure we all have that one cheapskate friend (whos not really poor just overly thrifty) that always complains.
A margarita pizza is ok if you vegetarian, in fact some places make an awesome margarita pizza, others make crap.
The OP immediately called me condescending for asking two simple questions. I wuld given him advice but now I agree with his friends.
Also noted the capital L in Loser in the thread title...:D

Glad you noticed the capital L - was added for dramatic effect. ;)

In all seriousness, money is not the issue. I often have a fillet steak or prawns etc, but on these occasions I ordered my favourite - a Margarita pizza.

I usually order a large Margarita pizza (30cm), not a small - so it is my main meal. The Margarita pizza sometimes being the cheapest meal is a coincidence.

Doing weird **** that can't be explained, like ordering retarded pizzas is what will make you legendary. But only if you take it well, like taking it as nothing or announcing to the entire restaurant that you love margarita.

Just something that I learnt from another friend... sometimes friends keep bringing up weird aspects because it's actually something odd / interesting, but the method in which they may bring it up could be unintentionally teasing... in your case intentional but they're immature.

I like that! Instead of defending the decision I can rather just own it! I might get myself a I heart Margarita pizza t-shirt! ;)

Well done, Humberto. Troll attempt successful.

Who?

Now that would have been perfect! I bet they would of being stunned, and that's what I'm looking to do - basically let them know that comment isn't appreciated ;)

See if they're prepared to put their money where their big mouths are!

PS: Completely understand that it's not about the money for you, but you'd be amazed at how 'friends' get back into their box when you tell them to 'put up or shut up'

:D

If I was in Italy, or at a restaurant that claimed to make extremely authentic pizzas, I would order a margherita. Sometimes a simple dish made extremely well with quality ingredients can be amazing, and can be better than trying to cover up with loads of lower quality ingredients.

That being said, I dont know of any restaurant in South Africa that makes pizza like this, so I probably wouldn't bother!

You are definitely overthinking this...evident by the fact that you are taking this long to figure out a retort.

Considering the existence of this thread maybe your friends are onto something. Do you feel you are maybe missing out but you are too afraid to admit this to yourself and therefore stick to the tried and trusted pizza?

Have you EVER tried anything else?

I'm glad you're seeing it from my point of view, that I enjoy the simple flavours that can only be enjoyed with a basic Margarita, any other toppings etc seem as if they take away from the overall experience.

Definitely, I've had rib, vegetarian etc etc and I've also been to the Panarottis special evenings and had seafood, chicken mayonnaise etc etc. They also had an amazing dessert pizza that had a pizza base, with melted chocolate, sweets and ice cream/cream - hmmmm! :p

Even after trying all of those, I still really enjoy the Margarita pizza the best, hands down!

The best Margarita pizza that I have ever had is Apple Bite in Edenvale! Absolutely the best! I think they are made in a traditional pizza oven and the tomato base is amazing. I would love on of those Margarita pizzas more often!
