Any great deals out there for 5K or less?

Maybe something like the Bosch Serie 2 to match my Dishwasher.

This is what is available at the moment.. they also have the candy brand, which comes in at your budget.. have no idea what the brand is like though.. think a salesman once mentioned it being Italian..

Cut a hole in the counter top, or simply remove it completely, and you can still use your top loader.

What I have learned this last while hunting for a new place in this town, landlords are just as scum, if not worse, than tenants. Changed my view quite a bit. But let's don't go off topic.

Yep, you will get a far better quality of wash with a frontloader. Toploaders are kak.
