A politician has called on airlines to combat the scourge of flatulence on planes after too many particularly distressing encounters with mid-flight farts.

Addressing a Kenyan parliamentary debate on transport last Wednesday, Nairobi MP Lilian Gogo called for new protocols to address what she believed to be a major irritant to passengers on long-haul flights.

Dr Gogo said she had too often fallen victim to someone’s passed wind in plane cabins.
“There is one irritant that is often ignored and this is the level of farting within the aircraft,”

Dr Gogo said, according to Nairobi News. “There are passengers who literally irritate fellow passengers by passing bad smell and uncomfortable fart (sic).

a super farter got kicked off a Dutch plane last year after a fight ensued.

An elderly man's flatulence forced his flight to make an emergency stop after a fight broke out over his barrage of bottom burps.

Passengers flying with budget Dutch airline Transavia from Dubai to Amsterdam were reportedly put out by the man's continued farting, and asked him to stop.

But the man failed to hold it in, and when even a direct order from the pilot didn't take the wind out of his sails, two particularly incensed passengers took matters into their own hands.

Local media reported that two Dutchmen sat next to the trumper started a fight with the man, which escalated to the point where the pilot was forced to make an unscheduled stop.

On landing in Vienna, armed police boarded the plane to remove the men who caused the ruckus, along with two sisters who were seated next to them.

What do they expect you to do ? Hold it in on an 8 hour flight ?

That said... they really do need to rethink how air quality is maintained on a flight.

The guilty parties need to identify themselves by way of a "pardon everyone", as suspicion always falls on the fat people. That way one may also be prepared as to where the next attack may be coming from.

Maybe they should make fat people take their own plane.... that would make everyone else happier.

Or just mandate that all in-flight meals consist of baked beans and brussel sprouts, along with carbonated drinks and prunes for desert. Can't blame a single person then

"... barrage of bottom burps"
They had fun with that one. Great use of alliteration there

Some farts are so strong it smells like they emptied an entire tanker of Hydrogen Sulphide.

It's all fun and games until someone lets rip a stinky that makes your eyes water

On a plane that would be worse

Kenyan MPs are the second highest paid legislators in the world - only to raise issues like this. It seems even if you pay in gold, you can still get monkeys.
