How sure are you it is fibre to the home? Vodacom, Neotel, DFA, etc. lay fibre on a regular basis for their own purposes. Here in Lynnwood there's fibre in almost every street, but no FTTH.

This. Do not get your hopes up. If it was FTTH you would most probably know about it.

Hm... I hope it is, or please at least let it be a MSAN, so we can get VDSL, if not FTTH. Fingers crossed.

So, it seems both Cell C and RSAWEB fibre have fibre in Panorama now. Anybody used them/got anything to report?

Thats an MSAN, vdsl. If it was fibre they would be trenching or putting up arial fibre, can’t use existing copper for that, but can for vdsl.

I've got two sms's from RSAWEB saying they have fibre in my specific road, although I have seen no trenching at all. And a letter from Cell C saying fibre is in my area. So I'm not sure if they are fibbing or what.

Openserve was in our area a few months back signing up customers for fibre, saying it would be installed in a "couple of weeks". Needless to say that was a load of shyte.

Thats probably arial fibre, if you have telephone poles they use that. Telkom does most of their fibre via arial.

Yes, we confirmed that, 3 years ago. ;)

Speak with @medicnick83 He is in CPT somewhere and has RSAWEB fibre at his house.

Yeah, I use RSAWEB (20MB/20MB) package on Octotel network.

I had lots of issues when RSAWEB first came to my area - a month or 2 later and it was fine, yes, downtime here and there, but it's minimal - and it was to be expected because when / how can you roll out completely NEW infrastructure and NOT have issues?

Honestly, I think the other ISP's have more downtime than RSAWEB does.

You welcome to toss / ask me Q's and I'll answer from my experience.

Ok, spoke to the Vumatel dude who is doing the Cell C thing. They apparently are going to start trenching between 15-31 Jan.

Just sms'd RSAWEB and waiting to hear back from them as well.
